Brynne Ropert and Portland Dolish have been best friends since being paired as roommates in college. Seven years later they are now twenty-five, married, and living in Maine–– but the two women couldn’t be more different. Brynne finds fulfillment in her life as a wife, mother and owner of a small café and bookshop, but is struggling to expand her family. Portland is still coping with her mother’s death during her childhood, and her marriage is unraveling before her eyes. Portland envies her friend’s seemingly stable and easy life while Brynne doesn’t understand the growing distance between them and cannot begin to guess what secret Portland is hiding about her husband and crumbling marriage. While one woman feels shut out, the other enters into a web of lies to protect herself. A Questionable Friendship explores what really makes someone a true friend, a support system, a sister. How much trust goes into a friendship and when is being a friend not enough? Brynne and Portland’s story will attempt to answer those questions, and show that happily ever after isn’t in the cards for everyone.

A Questionable Friendship Samantha March 9780991162024 Books Reviews
A questionable Friendship kept me interested which is difficult to do. I definitely was not expecting the ending and could not put it down. If you're looking for a good relate-able book that will keep you on your toes then add this one to your cart stat!
This was a good read about what friendships/marriages endure. A story about what is said and left unsaid. Brynne Ropert and Portland Dolish, two best friends since college, have each drawn an imaginary line between their own personal relationships. At one point, Portland said, "I wanted Brynne to think we both led amazing lives. I wanted her to think that Trent was a great person, a great husband, and that I was filled with happiness. I didn't want her to worry about me." In many ways, Brynne felt the same way toward Portland. Each held back to shield the other from pain, hurt and disappointment in their own personal lives and problems. These sometimes unrealistic ideals held by these two friends and the author's realistic approach to them played well on the pages of this book about friendships, whether it be husband and wife or between two so-called best friends. Life doesn't always have happy endings as this rich and emotional novel portrays. Life isn't always perfect and the author, Samantha March, let's us know in a very realistic ending. Personally, as an author myself, I loved the way the author ended on a sad, but high note. A good read.
It really took me a long time to get into this book. I felt it was very juvenile in the beginning. It was almost like a high schooler was writing it for a class project. About half way thru it started to have depth and meaning and the characters came alive. It was at that point, I didn't want to put it down. Every woman should read this book. The message is that important.
It is an easy read....written with a little too much detail on characters' daily routines (seemed almost like writer was padding the word count). The tone reminds of reading someone's journal....and that was intentional on the author's part....but some of it was repetitive. The reader knows from the first page what happened to one of the characters "in the end", then the story does a flashback and works up to the present where the story began...a rather nice strategy.
Ugh, really struggled with this. On a good note, it’s a decent story that she wanted to tell. How one character is struggling with her health and the other has a bad marriage. However, you can tell she enjoyed writing for Brynne than for Portland. Skipped over most of portland’s Story because it was pointless most of the time. There’s a lot of filler scenes that have nothing to really do with the story- going to the aquarium, meeting the dad’s girlfriend, etc. as well, no on edited this book. There are grammar issues and spelling errors (one I️ remember was saying foot instead of food). It seemed like it was a rough draft and no one ever edited it. I️ enjoyed the book, but felt like I️ wasn’t reading a professional book honestly.
When I first started reading this, I thought for sure one friend was going to end up with the other friends spouse or something. Totally didn't see this ending and I loved it! I'm all for anything this author puts out to print! She's a great YouTuber as well for beauty!
After being best friends for seven years, Brynne and Portland seem to be friends for a lifetime, but they still have some secrets from each other. Does being best friends mean you have to share everything? There are many reasons you might want to keep a secret fear of being judged, denial, protecting someone, embarrassment, privacy, and the list goes on. If you don't tell each other everything, does that mean you really are friends?
In this contemporary women's fiction, Samantha March explores the relationship between two friends. The novel kept me engaged the whole way through. I found both Brynne and Portland likeable and relatable characters. The plot took a twist I wasn't expecting which took to story onto a whole new level. I loved how the epilogue wrapped everything up and answered all my questions. This is the first novel I have read my Samantha March, but it won't be the last.
