Fati, recently married to Arch Lindor, a charming but mysterious man she met on a trip to Spain after resigning from the Los Angeles Police Department, learns that she has inherited ‘Florestal’, her Mexican-born, murdered great aunt’s sprawling estate in San Marino, California. Forced to travel alone to the west coast from the home in Florida she shares with her new husband because of his business commitments, Fati finds herself increasingly dependent on her elderly great aunt’s former ‘walker’ (escort), Walter Mulday, who is only too willing to aid her in vital decisions pertaining to the settlement of the deceased relative’s legally contested fortune, which includes many priceless pre-Columbian Mexican art works, an area in which he claims to be an expert. As Walter forces himself into her life against her wishes and other wealthy, elderly women with whom he has been associated are subsequently murdered, Fati pleads with Arch to abandon his business obligations in Florida and join her in California. However, when Arch arrives, Fati is dismayed to discover that Walter is as equally adept at deceiving and manipulating him as he is with her, although employing entirely different means. She quickly realizes that if Walter has selected her as a future victim, which she strongly suspects, she will be forced to rely on her police training and herself alone.
Lethal Legacy Raff Rafferty Mystery Series Book 5 edition by Robert Joseph Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
Lethal Legacy by Robert Joseph is a thriller that takes place in the ritzy area of San Marino, California. Fatima is the daughter of cop turned priest Raff Rafferty and the only heir to her Aunt Lupe’s fortune, which includes a sprawling estate by the name of Florestal. Someone is not happy with the distribution of the property and Fatima fights to stay alive as authorities try to figure out who murdered her aunt. As an ex-cop she thinks that she can take care of herself, but all is not as it seems to be even after her new husband and shows up unexpectedly to support her. Who wants Fatima dead, and why? Jump on this thrill ride as more people end up dead and time runs out with seemingly no clue as to whom the bad guys are. Clues from the past provide answers that no one saw coming as Fatima battles both known and unknown enemies. Money has its privileges and never is it more apparent than in this mystery. There are a couple of really colorful characters with strange behaviors involved in all the mayhem and it does have a great storyline. I would have liked to see Fatima’s character developed differently and even though it was a bit predictable I still enjoyed reading it. This is book five in the Raff Rafferty series but I do not believe that readers will have any trouble following along. I enjoyed the first four books and I am looking forward to book six.Product details

Lethal Legacy Raff Rafferty Mystery Series Book 5 edition by Robert Joseph Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This is the first book I have read by Robert Joseph, and it is book 5 in the Raff Rafferty Mysteries. For the life of me, I don't know why it is included in the book series. Raff Rafferty was barely in this book. It is more about his daughter who is an ex-cop, like her father, from this book I KNOW why she's an ex-cop! The story line was so "lined out" that you knew what was coming miles away. As far as the daughter, no ex-cop would of done the things she did and didn't do in this book. Like reporting a break in or attempts on her life. "Didn't want to slow down the case on her aunt's murder" was the reasoning. Oh come on now! I knew how the book was going to end before I was half way in it. Would I read another one? Doubtful. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read by this author and probably would read more of his work. Even though it is Book 5 of a seven book series, I had no problem following the story line as relationships were clearly defined. Obviously a lot of research went into this book as I learned a lot about pre-Columbian art and artifacts. But, it was not a boring, pedantic book, rather the facts came out as part of the storyline which added to the colorful backdrop of the magnificent mansion our protagonist inherits as the result of the murder of her Great-Aunt. Other murders follow and a cold case is resolved - all very interestingly. There were some plot twists as well and all-in-all this is a worthwhile read. I do recommend this to anyone who enjoys this genre. I received a copy of this work in exchange for an honest opinion.
Great writer.
This was my first book by Robert Joseph, and I loved it. The characters, the story, the suspense, the twists and turns and more. It was the perfect summer read. Once I started reading Lethal Legacy, it was hard to put down! I loved all of the references to Mayan art and rituals. I highly recommend!
What an interesting story to read. Ever changing and quite entertaining. I cant believe Fati stayed so calm thru this story. I loved every minute of it.
Fans of the murder mystery genre like me should love this book. I did. So many clues to keep your brain guessing to smoke out the killer, that's the fun of reading a plot as intricate as this one, enriched by writing that vividly portrays the unusual setting and characters. The plot also is embroidered with interesting cultural details about Mayan art and many allusions to history and music, rare in a murder mystery. Maybe even an allusion to a Kennedy murder. I have to admit that Fati, a former cop and daughter of Rafferty, an ex-detective himself, displayed less street smarts about her situation than one would expect, but that ends up contributing to the suspense. The suspiciously hunky husband was too good to be true, but there are several genuine out-from-left-field surprises that tip the plot into thriller territory. This mystery has so many facets that unfold in a torrent of satisfying and shocking revelations. Would make a great TV series.
Having read the previous Raff Rafferty mysteries I was interested in checking out Robert Josephs Lethal Legacy and can tell you right off the bat that he doesnt disappoint. While the fifth book in the series does slip a little in quality at points it is still worth a read if you've invested your time and money in the characters so far. If you haven't read any of the previous iterations though I strongly suggest starting at the beginning as there is a lot of character development you would have missed if you jump in on the fifth book.
Once more the series is following more of the view of Raffs daughter though that isn't to say that he doesn't make an appearance.
In the novel were following Fati and her marriage to Arch Lindor who she honestly doesn't know well but fell completely for while in Spain. Soon after she inherits an estate and her great aunts helper volunteers to help take care of her affairs and all of the property and items that are to be sold. However it soon becomes clear that he isn't there to help and he has his sites set on her for a completely different reason all together. Things go from bad to worse when Arch comes to help and suddenly his life is in peril as well.
Quite a few twists here as Fati is working in the dark and alone against an assailant who seems to know her every move.
All of that being said I felt this one didn't have the action and editing that Josephs previous books had delivered. It was still a good read if you enjoy the series but I felt it was the first of his novels that slipped a little.
